The Richmond Regional Planning District Commission has added three new emergency management planners to its staff. These positions are funded by the Department of Homeland Security’s Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) grant. The planners work closely with the localities of the Central Virginia Urban Area Working Group to identify issues of regional significance in emergency management and to develop plans to enhance regional preparedness and resilience in the face of an emergency. The emergency planning staff will also be available to assist jurisdictions with their own local emergency management projects.
