Who's My Legislator?
The Richmond Regional PDC legislative liaison
tracks bills and resolutions of interest to member jurisdictions. Monthly
legislative updates are presented at PDC Board meetings while the General
Assembly is in session (60 days in even-numbered years and 30 days in
odd-numbered years, commencing the second Wednesday in January) with a final
report,
The Yeas and Nays Report (2007) provided
to all members in April/May. This report is also accessible through the RRPDC web
site.
While the General Assembly is in session, liaisons
from the region (Chesterfield, Hanover, Henrico counties, City of Richmond,
Richmond Regional PDC, Crater Planning District Commission, and the Greater
Richmond Chamber of Commerce) coordinate monthly Capital Region Caucus (the
legislative caucus which represents the Richmond region) meetings
with area legislators to exchange
information about the work of legislative committees and study commissions, as
well as activities within each jurisdiction. Once the General Assembly is
adjourned, periodic caucus meetings are held to continue dialogue.
In addition to offering legislative assistance to
member jurisdictions during each General Assembly session, the Richmond Regional
PDC legislative liaison tracks VACO and VML meetings throughout the year to
facilitate collaborative action.
