Reports

The Transportation Improvement Program (Click here for FAQs on the TIP) provides a four-year program of federal, state, and locally funded transportation projects for which MPO approval is required.

Staff prepares the draft four-year list of proposed projects based on submissions by area local governments, VDOT, VDRPT, GRTC, CRAC, and Ridefinders and then conducts a public review process for the proposed RSTP and CMAQ projects and for the draft TIP document.

Throughout the year, there are TIP amendments submitted by VDOT, local governments, GRTC, and other transportation agencies which are brought to the Richmond Area MPO's (RAMPO) Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) for review.  The recommendation made here is forwarded to the MPO for action.

In addition, RAMPO staff:

Coordinates work by VDOT  to review and analyze projects in the TIP for conformity to air quality requirements, and  provides administrative assistance for work by the Interagency Consultation Group to conduct the conformity analysis process.

Coordinates work by VDOT to prepare the Annual Listing of Obligated Projects which compares the actual obligations made in the preceding federal fiscal year to obligations tat were programmed in the TIP.

Provides information on the Section 5310 funds program to area local governments and human service agencies.  Action taken by the MPO to endorse requests for Section 5310 funding and projects selected by the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) are programmed in the TIP.

Prepares and provides a list of the region’s priority projects for CTB for consideration during the annual financial planning and programming funds allocation meeting.  RAMPO develops its list of proposed projects based on input from TAC, CTAC, and EDAC, and based on the report of the Executive Committee.
