Socioeconomic Data
Reports
As part of the MPO's regional transportation
planning process, socioeconomic data and forecast are developed by area local
governments and RRPDC staff at a relatively small geographic level (i.e.,
traffic analysis zones) for use in various VDOT, MPO and local plan and study
activities. Socioeconomic data/forecasts provides input for travel demand
models, EIS, corridor studies, air quality conformity analysis, transit studies,
etc., and is used to respond to information requests for market and other
demographic studies. The
Socioeconomic Data Report
for Base Year 2008 and Projection Year 2035 was reviewed and approved at the
MPO's September 9, 2010 meeting. Revisions were made to the data and
approved by the MPO Technical Advisory Committee on March 17, 2011.
In addition to the Socioeconomic Data Report for
Base Year 2008 and Projection Year 2035, staff prepared a
Socioeconomic Analysis Report. In this report, 2008 and 2035 data is
analyzed to illustrate the regional picture of the Richmond Region by looking at
current regional density patterns and how this may affect future growth into
2035. Additionally, historical regional trends are referenced followed by the
analysis of urban, suburban, and rural areas. Throughout the report regional
development centers are identified as geographical areas in which there is a
high concentration of population and/or employment. The intent of this report
is to provide a foundation in opportunities for regional planning.
