BI-PARTISAN RECEPTION FOR RICHMOND REGION’S ELECTED OFFICIALS
Virginia Senator John Watkins and Delegate Betsy Carr to also
speak at 3rd Annual legislative reception for local-elected officials
Richmond, VA – On Wednesday, January 4, the Richmond Regional
Planning District Commission (RRPDC) will host its 3rd Annual
Legislative Breakfast for all elected officials – local, state, and
federal – who represent the one million residents in the nine localities
of the Richmond Region.
Guest speakers to the bi-partisan audience of regional leaders
include Congressman Robert C. “Bobby” Scott, Virginia Senator John C.
Watkins, and Virginia Delegate Betsy B. Carr.
Members of the media are encouraged to attend this rare opportunity
to report on city, county, state and federal elected officials jointly
discussing legislative efforts on behalf of the Richmond Region.
The 33-member RRPDC Board will present the 2012 RRPDC Regional
Legislative Agenda to the Richmond Region’s state and federal
delegations. Other invited guests include over 100 business and
non-profit leaders.
RRPDC presenters include Richmond City Council President Kathy C.
Graziano, Ashland Town Mayor Faye O. Prichard, Henrico County Supervisor
David A. Kaechele, Richmond City Councilman Charles R. Samuels, and
Hanover County Planning Commissioner C. Harold Padgett.
The 2012 Agenda includes legislative priorities and policy positions
on issues impacting the Richmond Region. Legislative priorities address
transportation policymaking, passenger rail funding, watershed
improvement programs, homeland security, and school rehabilitation.
Topics for policy positions include regional opportunities for
government reform, transportation funding, growth management, resource
protection regulations, passenger rail improvements, and state and
federal mandates on local government.

The Richmond Regional Planning District Commission is an
intergovernmental agency that encourages and facilitates local
government cooperation in addressing issues that impact its nine
jurisdictional members in Central Virginia. The 33-member RRPDC board is
comprised of 22 elected officials, seven Planning Commission members,
and four citizens representing 1 million residents of the Richmond
Region, including the Town of Ashland, City of Richmond, and the
Counties of Charles City, Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, New
Kent, and Powhatan.
