The agency’s rural transportation planning program
was initiated in 1995 by the Virginia Department of Transportation. Through
this program, the PDC provides rural transportation planning services to the
non-urban portions of Charles City, Goochland, New Kent, and Powhatan counties.
This program is supported in large part by an annual
grant from the Virginia Department of Transportation. Local projects include:
1. Circulation studies
2. Corridor plans
3.
Need assessments
4.
Transportation Efficiency Act (TEA-21) enhancement
grant applications.
For fiscal year 2007 beginning July 1, 2007, the
major focus of the program will be the development of a Rural Long-Range
Transportation Plan and a corridor plan for the eastern half of Route 5 in
Charles City County.
The
annual rural transportation planning program scope of work and copies of
completed documents and maps are included in this section.
