Bob Crum presented a
Strawman Draft of
Regional
Priorities compiled by the
Capital Region Collaborative (CRC) along with
a public participation strategy to solicit public input on the draft
priorities.
The
CRC is a cooperative effort between the Richmond Regional Planning
District Commission and the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce to
engage government, business, and community stakeholders in a process of
identifying, prioritizing, and implementing actions that will enhance
the quality of life in the Greater Richmond Region.
The CRC is being
coordinated by an Organizing Team that includes representation from the
Richmond Region’s government and business communities. Over the past
several months, the CRC has met with ten focus groups in the community
to receive input on potential regional priorities to be advanced by the
partnership. The strawman draft is a compilation of the most frequently
suggested issues for the Collaborative to focus upon as identified by
the focus groups.
The CRC invites community participation in this
cooperative effort to make our shared home a greater place to live, work,
and play. Throughout the summer and fall of 2010, the Collaborative will
be holding public forums and attending meetings to hear comment and
opinion on the draft in order to determine whether it adequately
reflects broad public sentiment before developing an implementation
strategy.
The strawman draft of regional priorities includes 7
priorities, 3 aspirations, and a broad regional goal presented in a
graphic centered around a blank pillar to represent the incomplete
nature of the draft.
