Mayor Joe Riley Event

On November 18, the Richmond Regional Planning District Commission (RRPDC) served as lead host for a visit from Charleston, South Carolina Mayor Joe Riley.  Over 400 people attended the presentation by Mayor Riley at the Greater Richmond Convention Center.  Mr. John Gordon, Hanover County Board Member and Chair of the RRPDC’s Large Jurisdictions Committee, provided opening comments and introduced Mayor Riley.  Mayor Riley’s presentation addressed several important issues for the Richmond Region including community design, creation of superior community spaces, affordable housing, adaptive reuse, and tourism as an economic development opportunity.  Richmond Mayor-Elect Dwight Jones concluded the session by providing comments for moving the community forward.
