plan2035: Long-Range Transportation Plan

The Richmond Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (RAMPO) is developing plan2035, the Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) for the Richmond Region.

The plan2035 Advisory Committee seeks public input to guide the development of a regional transportation plan that:

  • improves connectivity and mobility,
  • benefits economic and community development, and
  • advances regional projects and programs for federal and state transportation funds.

The LRTP is a financially constrained plan for improving connectivity and mobility to benefit economic and community development in the Region, advancing the planning targets of the federal Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: a Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU) transportation program.

Candidate Project Lists

From November 7 through December 1, 2011, the plan2035 Advisory Committee held a public comment period to gain community input on candidate transportation projects for the region. The Committee is reviewing the comments received and preparing a list of projects to be prioritized in the region.

The committee will draw from these prioritized projects to develop a financially constrained list of projects for consideration by RAMPO in March 2012.

Get involved!

We invite all those who live, work, or play in the Richmond Region to get involved with the plan2035 process. The committee welcomes all people attending its meetings.

Interested parties may choose to get involved by:

  • Speaking briefly during the open comment portion of Advisory Committee meetings;

  • Submitting comment to the Advisory Committee during the next public comment period; or

  • Hosting a meeting of interested persons and inviting staff to give a presentation on plan2035.

Next Public Comment Period - Spring 2012

The committee will be holding another public comment period in the Spring of 2012 on the draft of the full plan.
