The Region outlined seven
legislative priorities for
the Richmond Region as developed through a
collaborative effort by members of the 33-member
RRPDC Board.

Disaster Survivor Day Planned for the Spring
Due to the overwhelming response
to our first Survivor Day event, the
Central Virginia UASI is pleased to offer
a second disaster preparedness training for residents of the
Richmond-Petersburg metro areas. Date and
locations to be announced.
Each year the RRPDC performs a technical assistance
project for one of the Region’s four larger
jurisdictions. In 2011, Chesterfield County
requested an
economic study of the most distressed
portion of Chesterfield’s Jefferson Davis Highway
(U.S. Route 1) Corridor. The commercial corridor
currently lacks many services and retail options for
residents and this study will support the county’s
effort to identify economic opportunities.
Rivers of the Richmond Region: A Public Access Guide
The RRPDC
recently published
Rivers of the Richmond Region, a regional guide
of public access points to the Appomattox,
Chickahominy, Pamunkey and James Rivers.
The map will be distributed to
the public through local parks and recreation
departments, river keeper and boat outfitters,
selected tourism and visitor centers, libraries,
river-based businesses, and river access points.
The Capital Region Collaborative
is a cooperative effort to engage government,
business and community stakeholders in a process of identifying, prioritizing and implementing
actions that will enhance the quality of life in the Richmond Region.
The Richmond Area Metropolitan Planning Organization
is developing plan2035,
the Long-Range Transportation Plan for the Richmond
Region.
We invite all those who live, work, or
play in the Richmond Region to
get involved with the
plan2035 process.
Route 5 Corridor Study
Throughout its history,
Route 5 has served an important transportation
route in the Richmond Region. Today, the corridor is in
transition from low-density residential, industrial, and
rural land uses to mixed-use urban land uses. The study will take into
consideration roadway, transit, pedestrian and bikeway
improvements being initiated by the state, county and
city. The study team needs public input.

study visit

Regional Transportation Priority Projects list
The MPO maintains an adopted
Regional Transportation Priority Projects list,
which is submitted to the Commonwealth
Transportation Board and Virginia Department of
Transportation to assist them in allocating
transportation resources. The list is a valuable asset
for expressing regional support when seeking to obtain
federal, state and other sources of funding.
Richmond Region Green
Infrastructure
The
Richmond Region Green Infrastructure Project has
published a
report written by the Green Infrastructure Center in cooperation with
the RRPDC and the Capital Region Land Conservancy. The
report explains the green infrastructure concept,
identifies green infrastructure assets in the region as
well as opportunities for connection and expansion of
these assets.
An inventory of the
Richmond Region's parks was undertaken as the FY09
Technical Assistance Project for Hanover County.
This inventory includes both public parks (local, state
and federal) and schools in the Richmond Region as of
Spring 2009.
